28, left leaning independent

Grew up very conservative, and remained so until a year and a half ago. I still have some conservative views, and don't like deficit spending. OTOH, I'm (almost always) against the death penalty, pre-emptive war, and people being uninsured. I support, public education, reasonable government regulation of industry, workers' rights, the environment and civil rights. I think FDR and Abraham Lincoln were the two greatest presidents we ever had.

I don't see the big fuss about gays either. Who cares??

Do you allow all those conservatives to be in your house at once like Thanksgiving or Christmas? I would really like to attend one of those functions to hear them have at it.

You loaded a whole load of truth in that post and the most of it came in the last sentence.

So you are conservative till you get to the Crap and Tax bill?

Was a card carrying Young Republican when the hippies were in the streets in the late 60s/early 70s.
Your posts have indicated just what you say here. I really was glad to see that you weren't one of those liberals my dad called hippies in the 60s and 70s.

Too bad we don't live closer together since our feelings are so much the same.

I am 77 and very conservative, in the thinking of most of the liberals here. I am for the death penalty and think it would work if there was a lot more sureness it would be applied. I am against government control of almost everything, but not everything. I do believe that with single payer health insurance we will see government getting into so many other parts of people's lives.

I was one really liberal Democrat till the summer of 1972 when the Dems nominated George McGovern for Presdent. I realized how socialistic he was and have never seen a Democrat who wasn't too left leaning for me running for them. I do believe that Obama is by far the farthest left President we have ever had and really fear he may make life miserable for all you young people. Until exactly one year ago I wanted to live to be 100 but now I know I will never make it and don't really want to anymore.

Yes, we are a very close knit family and luckily we all love to drink wine or beer (other things as well) so, the guys, if they are not watching football and discussing how bad the present government is, and we gals are pretty much laughing at them...When our younger granddaughter met her husband and fell in love almost at first sight she called me to let me know it was ok, yes, he was a republican..and conservative. The older one would also report to me about every love she had, I will say none for as right as the guy she married.

You would love to be here. I am not hosting either holiday this year, but next, I will do Christmas probably, come on over. I am also a good cook...

Wow, I just realized you are in sothern Kansas...we aren't that far apart, you are a couple of years older, but just a couple and you know what, my mom was born in a little town in Kansas. I think the town is still pretty much belonging to her family...The bad news, they might be libs. I am not sure???
