The difference is, Beck is a private citizen, who is looking to investigate the possible motives behind government officials who will be shaping the country and spending taxpayer dollars.
This seems to be a new theme with the left, when a private citizen challenges government authority, the left attacks the citizen and sides with the powerful in government. Whatever happened to "talk truth to power," is it no longer a worthy thing for the people to do? Since when did the radical anti-establishment left become a part of the system that they used to challenge? When did the left turn its back against the people and become a part of the establishment?
Beck is a private citizen who happens to be backed by the most powerful media network in the United States.
Dont pretend he's just some little fella on a street corner, even though that's a favorite schtick of political entertainers. He is trained and he is doing his job.
This paragraph from the link is intertesting: "In its six-page written decision, the Court of Appeals held that the Federal Communications Commission position against news distortion is only a "policy," not a promulgated law, rule, or regulation."
Apparently the issue is the FCC language is a "policy" and not an actual "rule" or "law." Logical next step would be for this matter to be pushed at the FCC to turn that policy into a rule or law, which then CAN be enforced. Expect to see action on this someday down the road. Myself, I think there's a fine line between "policy" and "rule" and another judge at a higher level of appeal may be inclined to view "policy" and "rule" as equal and thus uphold the original lawsuit in favor of the reporter. It also seems that 3 other judges agreed with the original verdict before Fox went shopping for a sympathetic judge.
None of us should be lied to, no matter what our views and politics.
Best part is that FOX is defending their "Right" to falsify their programing by saying it is NOT news. This is the biggest scam since Pringles proved their Chips could not be taxed as food because they contained no potato.
Basically you can not believe anything you hear on FOX

Glen Beck, "private citizen", earns about $18 million/year including radio and TV contracts. TV & radio talking heads are not "little guys" standing up for their ideals.

He is a private citizen, he can not make law, start wars, change international relations, sign treaties, raise your taxes, sign a piece of paper and make parts of your life change forever, Beck has no power over you at all... but the people he is challenging, the government, can do and are doing, all the above.

And yet, Beck has no authority over you, and cannot force you to do anything you choose not to do, and he certainly cannot tax you 8% of your employee payroll for not choosing a Glen Beck approved health insurance plan or take money out of your paycheck to put solar panels on your neighbor's roof.
But neither he nor his Network adhere to the Journalistic Code of Ethics and claim they have "No duty to the Truth"
So you believe him at your own risk becaause he takes no responsibility for the factuality of what he says.
Ahhh, but in a free country, if Beck and his network put out lies and untruths, the other news media outlets, the blogs and private citizens will all expose them, and they will lose credibility and no one will watch him or his network.
BTW, Beck cannot force anyone to watch his show, he cannot spend taxpayer dollars to film a personal message and then tell the public schools to broadcast his message to the students next week.

Dont you understand - Glenn Beck PERSONALLY isnt influencing "the people he is challenging". It's the millions of unthinking sheep that he has wrapped around his shepherd's crook -- and the millions of dollars behind him. It goes RNC >> Faux >> Glenn >> sheep >> elected officials, I suppose >> govt.
what is with the "uninfluential humble private citizen" routine?
Beck and his network put out lies and untruths, the other news media outlets, the blogs and private citizens will all expose them
This is done on a daily basis.

Nope. Doesn't seem to be a shortage of feebleminded dolts who'll continue to watch and believe the constant lies and misrepresentations broadcast on FOX, despite the fact that said lies and misrepresentations have repeatedly been exposed and despite FOX's admittance that it has no legal duty to uphold the truth or to maintain journalistic standards.
