WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Obama and top aides have quietly stepped up talks with
moderate Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine on a scaled-back health care bill,
according to two sources familiar with the negotiations.

The compromise plan would lack a government-run public health insurance option favored by
Obama, but would leave the door open to adding that provision down the road under an idea
proposed by Snowe, the sources said.

CNN has been called "The epicenter of Corporate Fascism", you know?

Remember the result of Palinista Snowe and her buddy Susan Collins on the Stim Bill?

Read Krugman for that one.

Anyway,

Obama is a one-termer.

And kiss the Democratic Party goodbye.

And await what will emerge in their place.

Moderation can work?... you don't say!
Lets hope it is a bipartisan effort that gets this done. A One sided passing of the bill or one sided trashing of the bill will not help anyone.

i guess there's no room for dissenting opinions or, god forbid, compromise, in your republican party.

I am not in the republican party.

When republicans start acting more like democrats than republicans, they should be honest like Specter (took him a while to fess up though) and admit they are more interested in siding with the other party.

Colin Powell also needs to admit he is not a Republican, but then he wouldn't get all the media love that he has been getting since he stuck it to the most moderate conservative candidate in ages in order to support the most liberal Democrat since Jimmy Carter. Talk about someone with identity issues...

"Blue Shield Democrats" to be more precise.

Last time Snowe became the nexus for compromise, the average American got shafted and the corporations won.

Will be the same IF Mr. Obama did not learn from the stimulus battle.

Only this time it will be the lck of a second term that will be the immediate loser, along with the people, of course.

She'll throw Obama one GOP vote and help Obama limp into some sort of healthcare bill...the MSM will have a field day calling it bi-partisan, then she'll switch.
