I don't know if anyone has suggested this but I had an idea and it would all be responsibility based. I know how Republicans love responsibility so I thought of this idea.

Voluntary program:

Every 6 months you go in for a blood draw and your values are checked for cholesterol, blood sugar, BMI, lung capacity/efficiency etc. If they come back in healthy ranges, then you get free health care for essential things (accidents, illnesses, not elective procedures) over the next six months. If they come up out of normal range, you have a six month grace period to make improvement (within reasonable limits set by AMA).

Get the idea?

Reward the people who are taking care of their bodies through diet and exercise, then if something bad happens (accidents onset of cancer or some sudden illness) then you can get treatment and not have to worry about not having money because you've been responsible.

Incentive program for lifestyle changes.

So the sicker you get the more you would pay?

I'm not against incentives for healthy lifestyles either.

What about all the fat poor people - do they still get free health insurance because they are poor?

Exactly, it's the healthy that aren't receiving much medical care that pay for the unhealthy....if it was free for the healthy, who's it going to get funded....not to mention the fact that it's going in the direction of the big brother thing. If you get three strikes in a row, they ship you off to the soylent green factory....lol.
