It is best not to confuse a few individuals for a representative sampling.
It may have to do with the common perception that conservatism in America is married to the religious right, which isn't entirely wrong.

In reality it gets a lot more complicated than just liberal vs conservative.

There are fiscal conservatives and their are social conservatives. There are authoritarian liberals and libertarian liberals.

I like to think that many conservatives place individual rights and freedoms above the collective good of society. America does have its roots in rugged self-determination plus there is a significantly larger distrust of government compared to other nations. This may account for the high level of extreme conservatives.

Maybe we need to re-examine some of this.

A lot of conservatives seem to think the government can do no right, but the private sector can do no wrong. If that was the case, where exactly did this recession come from? Why would the banks and the automakers be in a spot where they'd even need any bailouts from the government?

Just like stupid decisions get made in government, stupid decisions get made in business too.

Liberals = reasoning, surroundings, awareness, sense of being, thoughtful.

Conservative = tradition.

I have noted that most of the conservatives will stick with a system even if it is NOT working very well rather than risk change particularly if the change will cost more in the short run in order to save money in the long run. They will also support systems that benefit a particular group of people, generally well off whites, at the expense of less well off people of different ethnic background.

In summation most conservatives are racist male supremacists that idolize the wealthy and believe the US has a god given right to run the planet to their advantage. In other words selfish over age bullying children.
