I think things would have to really go south for him to lose it, but it is so far away I voted 'Not sure'. If things continue like this he'll for sure get it, if health care and cap and trade turn out to be a tar pit and everyone hates it, no Hil will take the reins.
The anti-war and pro-gay crowds will not like Obama ignoring them in the next couple of years. Usually in the primaries, the candidate tries to appeal to the liberal whackos or the snake charming unChristian rightards depending on the party affiliation, then moves towards the center during the general election. Obama will have difficulty getting folks to come to the primary polls in '12, as Hitlery is much more pro-WAR and pretends to be supportive of Joe 6 Pack.

"Usually in the primaries" applies in years when the slate is wide open and firming up a base is necessary. Incumbent Presidents don't follow the "usual" scenario. Unless an incumbent President has been seriously damaged by a scandal or an unpopular policy, the incumbent is the party's de facto nominee and faces little challenge. Even if the President has instituted an unpopular policy, the primary is an opportunity for the party to weigh in and influence the President to change that policy. Negotiation like that is much easier on the party and its finances than multiple candidates competing to topple a sitting President.
i said yes but i guess it's possible he could not win the nomination if he messes up really, really, really badly. if the primary was held today, he would win it.
we are 6 months into the presidency for goodness' sake. his popularity right now is higher than bush's was when he ran for his second term.
Just because you disagree with someone politically does not mean you possess "the truth" and they are wrong.
We knew Obama was going to use the levers of government to fix problems that emerged from markets having too much room to play. I don't know what "truth" we're not seeing. That's why we voted for him.
He's not a socialist (socialists reject that charge outright). He's a globalist and a corporatist who has taken temporary measures to try and ensure that we maintain our corporations and industrial base in the United States.
