Kind of an odd question, but let me explain:

I'm a devout churchgoer (Baptist/evangelical) who believes the Bible, keeps his finances in check and I live a low key life as a schoolteacher in a small southern town. (Formerly the Midwest). But on most issues I consider myself *slightly* left of center, which surprises people when they find out.

Anyone else? Are you a stay at home liberal mom? Or an east coast elite righty? Or anything else? I'd love to hear your responses.

I am an elderly, retired teacher, born again Christian, pro life woman who has marched for and worked for civil rights, for peace, for women's equality and have volunteered untold hundreds of hours to help children, animals, and those living in poverty and I believe we should have universal health care. To me it means that I am trying to live out the teachings of Christ. To many of my fellow Christians it means I'm a wacko liberal.

Rightwing talk radio constantly promotes the idea that "real Americans are conservatives and people that hate America are liberals" as if we are 2 different species.

The reality is that we are all different and can agree with ideas from the left and the right.

I'm a stay at home liberal mom! But I am a fiscal conservative since I know how to balance the household budget.

I totally agree with you Dopo. I fall into that category myself. I put myself left of centre, but I have a fair amount of conservative positions at the same time. It's about gathering ideas, evaluating them and not hunkering down into your own ideological box.
