We all knew these guys are to lazy to read the bills that they sign, at least one of these fools is honest enough to tell why....
During his speech at a National Press Club luncheon, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Democratic Congressman John Conyers (D-Mich.), questioned the point of lawmakers reading the health care bill.
“I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill,’” said Conyers.
“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”

Now I know the reason these bills have become so long and tedious to deal with. Lobbyists are trying to cover every little thing so it takes a lot of words. Not so many years ago the average bill in Congress was less than 50 pages long so they could be read by the Congressman. At 1000 pages there is no wonder they don't read any of it.
Have you tried to read any of this abomination? I have tried and tried and it is very hard to make anything of any part of it.
I alwasy thouhgt that is why we paid so many of these aids they have has staff. o give them a shorten overall review of what a bill contains. Many be they need to work less on BS talking points and more on what is actually beiung voted on. maybe then the would vote not to vote when somehtng like the stimulus is passes out at midenite and voted on at 9:00am.Cweratinly some might have note the Doddd addition.Otherwise they loo like the soviets that just do what the leadership wants.

I really don't have any idea who wrote all the bills that are being considered in committee but I am sure that Congress critters didn't write them. There are five of them now and only one doesn't have public option involved. That one belongs to Republicans in the Senate and it is dead with no consideration unless someone wises up to the fact that public option isn't going to fly.
This is a distraction. The problems with our legislative processes are numerous - that lobbyists have so much influence, that procedural games play such a large role, that election politics are too influential, that our media are lame, etc.
Sens and Reps not actually reading bills is not a real big issue. Conyers makes sense.
