And therein lies the problem. There IS NO RECORD to prove Democrats have a more positive stance on human rights than the GOP. It would take thousands of hours scrutinizing every single vote, bill, and verbal statement in our nation's history to quantify this. As such, any assertion that one party has a more positive stance is absolutely ludicrous and is solely based on perception as the media would have you understand it. Furthermore, "bleeding heart" liberalism does not mean that conservatives are unphased by world events infringing on human rights. You, and anyone else, would be hard-pressed to prove otherwise, and I think you know this. Instead you fight to the end trying to prove something that is purely rhetorical in nature. Give it a rest. Conservatives don't want to see people killed in the streets for protesting an election any more than liberals do.
I would actually tend to think, as Americans, most of us stand for human rights regardless of party affiliations. For a very long time both parties stand and stood for freedom and democracies around the world. I kinda liked what President Clinton said:
Quote:
"And the idea is they just don't think they can keep control, if everybody gets to say what they really believe, and go where they really want, and be who they want to be," Clinton said, adding with a chuckle: "And they're right, right there."
You can't control people without controlling things and to do that it must be done through coercion.

In what period of American history might have this been the case? WWII, the invasion of Kuwait perhaps? Other than that, for every era of championing human rights I can surely point to support for regimes that fully abused human rights with the tacit approval of the U.S., by both parties.
