I think she wants to and no doubt harbors aspirations to.
Whether or not she is nominated will be a litmus test to see which direction the gop is going. If she is nominated watch for actual conservative holdouts to finally abandon the republican party. If she isn't that may signal a return to conservatism and a repudiation of the religious right and neo cons.

I don't think you could find a Democrat in the United States who wouldn't fully support a Sarah Palin candidacy in 2012.

I don't agree with you. Democrats vote for their candidates, and so Republicans for theirs. The side that manages the swing vote most efficiently wins elections, because both sides are equally divided. So, the political campaigns are conducted on a very few issues: abortion, gun rights, and a few other social issues. This things swing elections.
