How would the cops like it citizens tried to run them over with a car? Oh wait they did that. Maybe thats why they had the reaction they did.

There is a brotherhood in the police force and it's not really recommended you try and murder one of their brothers with your vehicle because your a freakin scumbag who broke the law then wasn't a man to face the punishment so you chose to put not only police lives in jeopardy but other motorists.

It's to bad the scumbag didn't die when he was ejected from the vehicle. The officers should not have beat him like that however, if they wanted to do something slam his head into the cruiser when your putting him in the back, no cameras back there.

I saw the video; they smacked him once or twice, but backed off when they realized he was already unconscious. The criminal had no recollection of the incident. There is no story here other than another bad guy gets busted.

If the police had the guy in custody and there was no threat to themselves or the public and they still pounded him, I would favor prosecuting the officers. In this case, he tried to run an officer down. For all they knew he was playing dead and had a gun underneath him. You know what they say about a "pound" of insurance.

I also believe one forfeits their civil rights to an extent when they break the law and endanger the lives of others.

Then you don't comprehend our Constitution.

The US constitution is like the King James Bible. There are many interpretations and people comprehend the original intent differently. I dont comprehend the constitution to guarentee a criminals complete safety while the suspect in fleeing and endangering the general populace. I do comprehend it to ensure he/she is not treated in a cruel and unusual manner and receives a fair trial.

maybe it would be better if the USA got rid of cops, police and federal law enforcement and went with peace officers.

then we dont have to worry about the cops violating another persons constitutional rights.

While I don't support anyoine running a cop down you have to wonder why this cop thinks his body can stop a speeding van. Is there a superman complex going on here? Most people have enough sense not to step out in front of a speeding car... particularly when he is likely focused on looking in his rear view mirror and in a highly agitated state may not see you.

Im sure the cops attorneys will say because of his past behavior the unconscious man posed a grave threat. what ever they are no better than what they are "protecting" us against. I personnally would feel safer if they were not on the force. The one that stepped in the road way needs some psychiatric evaluation. looks like they provided another criminal grounds to become very rich.
