The NH govenor will not sign this current bill but if amended he will sign a new one.
http://www.boston.com/news/local/bre...mpshire_g.html

He states,

"If the Legislature passes this language, I will sign the same-sex marriage bill into law. If the Legislature doesn't pass these provisions, I will veto it," Lynch said. "We can and must treat both same-sex couples and people of certain religious traditions with respect and dignity. I believe this proposed language will accomplish both of these goals and I urge the Legislature to pass it."

So what do you guys think? I personally agree with him. I'm for gay marriage but people of certain religions deserve thier respect as well.

The amendment he's requesting is unnecessary - churches have never been required to marry anyone - but whatever... I don't care if it's amended to include the language he wants.

if they want to put a provision in it that protects the religious institutions from a false fear that is already protected by the 1st ammendment, then so be it
No gays I know want to roll up to a church that hates gay people and force them to marry them...
they just want to be able to have their own ceramonies (which they do already) and have it recognized by the state like every other straight person...
kudos to NH....
that will make it 6 states!

Change the wording to reassure certain churches - big deal, if that's what they want.

Yeah, right.

Most states within the next 10 years. All states within the next 20 years. Those are my predictions.

I think that doma laws will be repealed before the end of obama's first term... and that will allow gays married in other states to move and have their marriages valid wherever they go..That in itself will provide marriage equality to all gays.. it will just required silly semantics until eventually every state will realize it isn't the end of society or the world, and it will be gone. In what time frame.. who knows..
