No wonder they got waterboarded so much. How can you confess to what you don't know?

The fact that the torture of detainees had absolutely nothing to do with preventing terrorist attacks and everything to do with manufacturing evidence to justify the invasion of Iraq is become ever increasingly obvious if you read not only the story that you've linked to but also the stories being written by Ron Suskind and Scott Shane of the NYT's.

I wonder how many desired false confessions were obtained and then used amongst the Bush Administration to convince themselves to keep torturing to get more false support to make their case that there was some kind of reason to invade Iraq.

Apparently they never got the link that they desired, or certainly nothing that would be credible to a world audience. because they surely would have used it. As for convincing themselves, I don't think that would have mattered one iota.

OK, I have this question that's been bugging me for years.

Why didn't BushCo plant WMD's in the desert somewhere where our boys could find them to accomplish one big believable vindication?

Serious question.

My step father was a Ranger, and he couldn't understand why that didn't happen either.

I mean, what do you think Rangers do?
