ISFAHAN, Iran - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad inaugurated the country's first nuclear fuel production complex on Thursday.

The facility produces uranium fuel for a planned heavy-water nuclear reactor. The West fears the reactor, which is due to be completed later this year or in 2010, could eventually be used to create a nuclear weapon.

Iran denies any intention to build a nuclear weapon. The U.S. and its allies have expressed concerns Iran could reprocess spent fuel from the heavy-water reactor into plutonium for use in a warhead.

Maybe Obama can sit down with them, have a cup a tea, and talk them out of their nuclear aspirations.

They are a sovereign country with just as much right to nuclear power and/or nuclear weapons as the US and Israel.

That's a neocon fantasy. No serious miltary expert or foreign policy expert believes Iran wants to attack anyone.

I wonder how the major Sunni Islam powers in the region will react when Iran gets a nuke. They won't like it. They will want nukes as well as a deterrence. We will see a nuclear arms race in the Middle East very soon.

Yes sounds like we opened a can of worms...better start negotiations via diplomatic channels to eliminate all nuclear weapons.....

Then we would have the moral authority to tell other countries what they can do.

None of this Israel can have the weapons but Arabs cannot B.S. coming from Neocon bigots.

Who would they be besides Saudi Arabia? The UAE, Kuwait? The only major player left after the downfall of Hussein is Syria and Syria isn't a Sunni dominated country.

The really fascinating part of that news item is that it's silenced all those people who insisted that Iran had no such capability.

That would be the United Nations by default. Who do they call on to deal with world conflicts? It surely isn't Ghostbusters. And it damn sure isn't yellow-bellied cowards like a certain number of posters on the forum.
