This is a thread comparing the responsibility of caring for a pet with the government entitlement program? The analogy is ridiculous.
Reversing this, are you comparing the care of our elderly with Social Security and Medicare similar to caring for a dog?!?!?

We pay for our Social Security and Medicare while we are young, healthy and working. Our earnings are tracked throughout our lives and when we retire after a lifetime of working we get monthly SS checks and are also enrolled in Medicare. Hardly a free ride for most of us.

We take care of our dogs because we choose to have pets.

No. I wouldn't compare taking care of dogs with providing for the elderly in our society. They are not the same thing at all.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Next time you see a doggie pooping in your yard, press the car alarm button on your key chain. I've heard it works like a charm .

This is definitely off topic but another good method is to pour bacon grease on the poop. Poochie comes back for another round, eats the bacon grease laden, day old, poop, goes back home, and throws up inside the owner’s home!

The point I am trying to make is that nothing is free in life, if you get free housing then at sometime in your life you will be scared that it will be removed. At which time you will do as directed because there are always strings somewhere or somehow. Now at this time are you into socialism or does it become it slavery by acts required of you that you would not normally do. Servitude is where you have to commit certain acts for a period of time. But in all aspects you have chains on your actions by all of the above.

What should we expect our Goverment to do for us with our tax money ? What can they do for us that we cannot do for our selves? The guarantee of Health , Education and Welfare seems pretty minimal to expect from a country that is depending on us to protect it

Doesn't this really sound scary close to where we are at?
Appears to me you like your dog. Nothing wrong with that (except for that 20' chain...). Your dog is getting better treatment than a lot of humans. Arguably, that is scary.
