Unfortunately they don't care if it works or not. They just want to attack him about something. When things get better they will move on and attack him on something else. They don't care about the country unless it fits into their tiny mold.

I think you're right. If Obama's plans turn this country around in the next 2 years, the right-wing will still be spitting on him. Apparently, there are scores of Americans who don't put country first.

Unfortunately so, but who cares about those few. We will still challenge their rhetoric and lies here on C-d .

Wow, you guys must have Obama fever to equate the above article as an example of the stimulus package working. There was nothing in the article that connects the actions of one company buying another company to the stimulus package. I'm willing to give Obama credit where he's due but this was an example of free market economy, not socialist economy.

Clearly, you didn't finish reading the article. Read all the way to the end. Go ahead, you can do it--I know you can!

Would be very interesting to see how many tax dollars will be used to give those 200 or so people a job for a year or two... If the company payroll is $10M, is it worth it if $250M in tax dollars is spent???

Here's the last lines I believe you are referring to.

Despite the general economic downturn in the U.S., demand for the energy-efficient windows made by Serious Materials at four plants around the country remains strong, Surace said.
He noted the nearly $800 billion federal economic stimulus includes more than $30 billion for environmentally friendly products like those made by Serious Materials.
"We don’t believe we’ll get the whole $30 billion," Surace said with a laugh. "But we fully intend to take advantage of all parts of the bill that apply to us."

What I see is that first sentence I copied which says demand for this product remains strong around the country. What you saw involves 30 billion for enviromentally friendly products like those made by this company. They made a business decision based upon the market demand for the product. They haven't received a dime from the stimulus package. Though 30 billion was designated for this industry, it will have to be divided between all the companies working with these types of products. By the time the Federal Government figures out how many companies qualify and how much they qualify for it could be many years from now. However, right now the market is still strong for their product and that's why they made this investment.

The so called conservatives keep mentioning free markets like it has ever existed in this country. What we have is a mixed economy with a heavy set of regulations, and it has always been like that. Let me tell you how the stimulus package works....it create jobs. When money is injected to let say the Department of Energy to be spent on renewable energy, the DOE contract out private businesses to manufacture energy efficient goods, therefore increasing demand and as a result, jobs are created. It is how other agencies work like nasa, dod, etc...Obama fever? Please, really, turn off AM radio...the economy would be a lot worst if it wasn't for government. Government agencies keeps operating nominally during recession, therefore government employees keep spending and injecting moeny into the economy.

Spending $650M on TV converter boxes... How does that create jobs?

This "job creation" package is costing the taxpayers $250K for each job created, thats assuming the predictions of Obama are correct and it creates 3.5 million jobs.. Wow, us taxpayers are getting a great deal, thanks Uncle Obama!!!
