Please don't answer this if you don't like Hillary Clinton. I want to hear from the people who supported her run for the Presidency.

If Hillary Clinton wants to be President someday, did she make a mistake by accepting a job in the Obama administration?

Or, do you think if she bails after 2 years she'll be fine as long as she's not in it if and when the Obama ship goes down in 2012?

I'm not asking because of her probable job performance as Secretary of State. I think she'll do fine. I'm asking if you think she'll be tainted by the current administration's actions, unrelated to her job.

If the "ship goes down" it will be hard for any Democrat to win in 2012. Further, an insurgent candidate from within the incumbent party has never won the nomination. In short the only possible election that Hillary would have a reasonable shot at winning would be 2016 when she would be 69 years of age.

A more pertinent question might be, did Hillary make a mistake taking the position of Secretary of State instead of remaining in the Senate. I can see pros and cons on either side of that ledger.

I did not support Hillary for president, but I'm going to answer anyway.

I do not think that she made a mistake in the context of your query. Hillary, IMHO, will not run again for president. She has the highest position of power that she can attain at this point in time. Obama did not pick her for VP and even if Pelosi were to keel over, Hillary would not become majority leader. After her tenure as SOS she can run again for Senate, if she so desires. At that time maybe, just maybe she has a shot as as majority (or minority) leader.

Ovcatto also makes some very good points.

I think she may well be President by 2012. I'm firmly convinced she's got something on Mr. Obama, is pulling his strings and that is why his adminsitration is so heavy with Clinton holdovers. People that weren't friendly with Hillary are nowhere to be seen high up in Obama's cabinet. What would it take to push Biden out and for her to switch positions and become VP just before some revelation comes along forcing Obama out of office?
Did she make a mistake in not just sitting back and staying clear of a guy who's likely to fail spectacularly? I'm sure she's started thinking about that and how she may go down with him. It's going to an interesting and chaotic next few years in the White House.

I don't think she made a mistake. It's quite the honor to be in her position. I actually think it would be a mistake for her to run again, although if she did I would support her. I just don't think that if you ran once & lost that you should run again. There's a reason why you lost in the first place.
