HONOLULU - Federal agents have arrested a Hawaii man after he allegedly threatened to attack and kill President-elect Barack Obama when he visits Hawaii on vacation this month.
Mark Miyashiro allegedly made the threats Dec. 3 to a doctor who is treating him for a schizophrenic disorder, according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court on Friday.
Oh, good grief! Anybody who is REALLY considering such a foolish stunt won't be telling anybody about it, they will just quietly plan it and try it.
They might even succeed. Let's face it, the USSS and the FBI will probably be unable to stop them (him?) (her?) (whatever), and more than likely won't even be aware of the plot until it happens.
Such stories make good news fillers, but I doubt if anybody takes them very seriously.
Yes, the authorities have to investigate each and every one they hear about.
What about the ones that they DON'T hear about?

I'm not sure I understand the point, just because someone is crazy (in this case certifiably) enough to discuss it doesn't mean that they aren't crazy enough to seriously try it. If Obama were to be attacked by a sane and capable assassin or a crazy one doesn't alter the fact that his life may be at risk. As an example, I give you Lynette "Sqeaky" Fromme or better yet, former FBI informant Sara Jane Moore who prior to attempt on President Ford's life had been investigate by the FBI as a possible threat to the President.
Six months on the job and he already has been on vacation twice. I guess what they say about govt. employees is right after all!
