this will cross party lines. here is one example:
On Monday, the collisions between politics and business already were on display. Rep. Steve Kagen (D., Wis.) told The Wall Street Journal he opposed a Chrysler bailout because Cerberus owns NewPage Corp., a paper company that closed two mills in Wisconsin.

"I'm dead set against any proposal that would attempt to ask the hardworking taxpayers of Kimberly and Niagara who've just lost their jobs to pay the hangmen," Mr. Kagen said, referring to the two towns that were home to factories. Cerberus said it "deeply regrets the impact" of the closings but believes the company dealt with "this tough decision with compassion for the displaced employees."

Chrysler NEEDS to go under, they make crap cars, and GM and Ford would get a good chunk of their biz. Problem solved!

Uh... no. Chrysler going under hurts Ford and GM due to how the supply chain works. They all use the same parts suppliers in general, if one goes under that means that the parts suppliers are going to lose a lot of business. If those guys go under it's bad for everybody (this includes foreign automakers which is why Toyota is lobbying for the bailout as well).

I'll support loans to Ford and GM, but not to Chrysler as the latter is privately owned by Cerberus Capital. During 2006 and 2007, during the height of corporate greed, private capital funds like Cerberus (and Blackstone, and Carlyle Group, et al) took lots of cheap capital and bought up some of the most profitable corporations in the nation ... companies like Hilton Hotels and other firms that are/were leaders in their business areas. Buying up these firms took us small investors out of the picture; it allowed the big profits to go to the very wealthiest investors (as if they need any more wealth) and it shut out us regular investors. Now, these a-holes want ME to bail out their sorry asses? No way. I'll support GM and Ford, but not Chrysler, let these very wealthiest of bastards pay their own damned bills and not 'socialize' the costs onto we taxpayers. F'em.
