As far as I'm concerned there can be no doubts about it; GW Bush & Co just ran the United States of America into economic as well as moral near-bankruptcy. I believe historians will look upon this outgoing administration as having been the most incompetent and corruptly managed of our nations history. I also think his administration damaged our international public image to such an extent that he probably prematurely hastened our decline as an empire. We'd still have a few good decades left if not for him! To me this is an obvious fact and a no-brainer.

Now I hear or read about people unreasonably expecting Obama to somehow miraculously reverse the downward spiral, basically thru applying the very same mistakes that got us into this situation in the first place: EZ credit.

Don't take this as some kind of personal criticism towards Obama tho; John McCain was proven similarly clueless as far as providing any real solutions to our economic woes and would probably have done no better or worse than we can expect from Obama.

Having said all this the question is:

Do you agree that Obama is indeed inheriting a historically tremendous financial mess?

I'm sure all the mistakes Obama makes in the next four years will be Bush's fault

That's something definitely interesting to ponder ..four years from now.

In the meantime it would be much more productive and educational to talk about the mistakes already made within the last recent eight years.

Yes he inherited a mess of epic proportions. This isn't just Bush's fault. This has been a mess in the making for years. The whole govt is at fault.

No, but all the mistakes bush made will be , and are, BUSH'S fault.

The repubs blamed Clinton for all bush's crap....or did you conveniently forget?

But don't worry about Obama...since HE has integrity and a spine he WILL admit his mistakes, which, after seeing him in action , will be few !!!!!

Ronald Reagan inherited a bad recession from Jimmy Carter and within a couple months, things were going much better.

The problem is, Obama was in the Senate all this time and did nothing to stop what Bush did. Obama did not oppose massive government spending and in fact he's supported the many billions of dollars bailouts.

Spending more money that doesn't exist is not going to fix a problem.

Ok, I'm open to being convinced. So, what administration came into office in the middle of two wars and an economic meltdown?

He wanted the job, he got it, and now he can deal with whatever happens with whatever kind of mess it is. It will be a good challenge for him to prove his greatness.
