As far as I'm concerned there can be no doubts about it; GW Bush & Co just ran the United States of America into economic as well as moral near-bankruptcy. I believe historians will look upon this outgoing administration as having been the most incompetent and corruptly managed of our nations history. I also think his administration damaged our international public image to such an extent that he probably prematurely hastened our decline as an empire. We'd still have a few good decades left if not for him! To me this is an obvious fact and a no-brainer.
Now I hear or read about people unreasonably expecting Obama to somehow miraculously reverse the downward spiral, basically thru applying the very same mistakes that got us into this situation in the first place: EZ credit.
Don't take this as some kind of personal criticism towards Obama tho; John McCain was proven similarly clueless as far as providing any real solutions to our economic woes and would probably have done no better or worse than we can expect from Obama.
Having said all this the question is:
Do you agree that Obama is indeed inheriting a historically tremendous financial mess?
he is getting a mess, but there have been worse ones in the past.
The problem is, Obama was in the Senate all this time and did nothing to stop what Bush did. Obama did not oppose massive government spending and in fact he's supported the many billions of dollars bailouts.
Spending more money that doesn't exist is not going to fix a problem.
He wanted the job, he got it, and now he can deal with whatever happens with whatever kind of mess it is. It will be a good challenge for him to prove his greatness.
