Did anyone watch this episode of the FX television show?

If not, then here are some clips until the full episode is uploaded onto Hulu. Watch it with an open mind, than tell me what you think of the woman.

Synopsis: A mormon mother in California with two adopted children moves in with a Same-Sex family with 4 adopted children in Michigan for 30 days.

My Question:
Is she being logical or even rational about reconciling her beliefs with reality? Is she hiding her own unnamed prejudice behind her religion? Is she allowing her religion to close her eyes to what she can see is good, but professes is bad; even with first-person experience to the contrary?

Disclaimer:
I don't claim that her beliefs are in the majority of theists

Without further delay:

I saw that episode (love the show!), and it was really frustrating... she absolutely refused to open her mind, or even listen & debate rationally. She couldn't even back up her beliefs, and flat out admitted they were based on nothing - she said something like "I don't claim to be an expert, these opinions are just based on my gut feeling." It's a great show, but I was disappointed that she couldn't even TRY to see their p.o.v. Usually the participants come in with an open mind, and she was clearly not ready for that.

I won't make any judgments against her faith, but she seemed like the brainwashed/parrot type... regurgitating what she's learned, without ever stopping to ask why. My religion teaches that questioning your beliefs is good, and apparently her church does not.

I feel bad for her .

She seems to have little exposure to the greater world and I think her "strong beliefs" come from that position of ignorance. She states over and over again that she believes children should be raised by both a mother and father...what of all the heterosexual single moms and single dads?? Should they have their children taken away from them?

When she is confronted with putting a living face to her perceived adversary, look at how uncomfortable it makes her:

Hulu - Not Just The Burgers Getting Grilled: 30 Days (http://www.hulu.com/watch/21013/30-days-not-just-the-burgers-getting-grilled - broken link)

But for me, the worst of it is her ignorance of the American foster care system. I want to applaude those 2 men for adopting not one, not two, but four boys from the foster care system...and one of them is a special needs child. These men are heros! Not only to those boys, but to all Americans. These boys have a fighting chance of a successful adult life now. Statistically, they were doomed if they remained in foster care. How dare she make these men feel bad for one minute for what they did - gave these boys a real family.

Ugh, get her off my screen!

What upset me (and others, especially GLAAD) was how the show appeared to support Kati's position with the statement by Peter Sprigg of the Family Research Council without any attempt to provide an alternate or discerning response. His statement on the show, "Homosexuality is associated with higher rates of sexual promiscuity, sexually transmitted diseases, mental illness, substance abuse, domestic violence, and child sexual abuse, and those are all reasons for us to be concerned about placing children into that kind of setting." Where is the statistical data to support that?

I read elsewhere on the net that Spurlock has repeatedly been pressured by the suits at F/X to keep the show "controversial". Sounds like the same vibe from FOX News...which means I will likely refrain from watching the show any longer.

What a shame. Spurlock needs to look for a different network.

Agree 100% with the above posts... and did you notice how defensive she was?? Usually the people who are most defensive know they're wrong.

I haven't seen this show, but you know when the FRC and their "statistics" are brought out, they've lost all credibility. I've looked into their "statistics" that go even further to say gay men want to be victims, ask for gay bashing, beat their partners, are disease-ridden predators, etc. If you look at the footnotes, the "studies" were done in the late 70s/early 80s in San Francisco bathhouses. Wouldn't that be like interviewing 100 crack whores and then stating that the statistics you compiled apply to all heterosexual women? The FRC and Focus on the Family are nothing more than crackpot organizations that use religion to spread hatred, fear, and advance their personal homophobia. Much of their "data" comes from Paul Cameron, who's also called for tattooing gay men and exterminating them. He's the gay community's mordern day Hitler.

Isn't this "30 days" show from the guy who did "Super size me"? The same guy that basically conditioned a result so he could make claims about the fast food industry? The same guy who was shown to be wrong by another who did the same thing and lost weight?

Personally, I wouldn't take anything this guys has to do with seriously as it is probably conditioned to show one side to support one sides conclusion. Garbage in, garbage out.

Oh puhLEASE! All the Obamahaters who use "Husein" every time they refer to him are simply using a childish play out of Rove's handbook! I never heard anyone inserting "Jefferson" into Bill Clinton's name in all the years he was in office.

The sad thing is, this country is so full of ignorant people (the majority bought Bush's war lies) that they'll actually think Obama is related to Saddam Husein, the guy who's "responsible for 9-11".

I thought the 5 billion exclamation points I used would've tipped you off to the sarcasm, which then would've made my post relevant to the thread/quotation.
