Nearly every time we try to do that, the GOP calls it "socialism" and "communism". Big sad.

Russia still thinks it's 2014. They're delusional.

Putin will announce the annexation at a ceremony tomorrow - is this his "official" calling it part of Russia or the beginning of a process? Time for Ukraine to push further into their own country to take it back.

Except that the dems routinely throw money at some of the most destructive domestic initiatives that exemplify socialism and communism and hence deserve the labels. The green new deal that America didn't want but they snuck through anyway masked in the sheep's clothing of the laughable inflation reduction act. Or the student loan 'relief' initiative which has strong parallels with socialist ideas although it could better be thought of as a call-back to the Roman empire where mob support was bought with bread and circus giveaways. No if dems spent money wisely on domestic programs then they might not get such strongly worded opposition so let's don't go framing this in the the way you did as "poor dems we just can't win".

How about noticing that there are a good number of conservatives here who despite the ideological polarization dictates of "thou shalt support this but not that" are still supportive of arming Ukraine and aiding their victory? I find common cause with liberals in this and I don't care. This leopard hasn't changed its spots. I remember well the cold war when the geopolitical hawks were the republicans who saw the jeopardy of the Soviet empire. I don't see present day Russia as dramatically less of a dangerous global mischief maker. Different ideology but a similar authoritarian bad actor that needs to be reined in and I have a similar degree of sympathy for smaller freedom seeking countries that they oppress. It's notable that dems and even Euro leftists have radically flipped from pacifist anti-American objection to our strong military stance against the Soviet Union to one of military opposition against Russia. Where's the condemnation of American imperialism? Where is the German Greens party protesting NATOs militarization of Western Europe driven by their pacifism, affinity for communism and full-time hatred for America?

I call that out because I notice the irony but it doesn't dissuade me from finding common cause with liberals in the Ukraine vs Russia conflict. I'm determined not to be a sheep who slavishly supports whatever "my party" dictates I should support. Maybe you should consider the same picture and put that ideological machinery behind you when discussing mutual support for Ukraine with people "from the other side".

I think we are in violent agreement about Ukraine.

The money for military equipment is spent in the US, not Ukraine. That money creates/funds American jobs.

The newly mobilized Russians should just surrender first opportunity. They are being failed by their leader.

The sheer scale of Russian incompetence and disregard for its mobilized civilians. These men complain they were left in the freezing field with no shelter — not even a tent — and no rations for the second day. “Like a flock of sheep.” How many will make it to Ukraine?

Lockheed Martin builds HIMARS and they are about to get a ton of new contracts.

I held a vote this morning and in a decisive 1-0 vote I have declared Russia to be annexed by myself.

The country is being re-named Mathsylvania and you have until Tuesday to get out.
