Ukrainian forces appear to be setting conditions for a controlled fighting withdrawal from parts of Bakhmut. Russian forces have been fighting to take Bakhmut, a city with a pre-war population of roughly 70,000 people, since roughly May 2022 and have suffered devastating casualties in the process. Geolocated footage posted on March 3 confirms that Ukrainian troops have destroyed two critical bridges in the Bakhmut area—one across the Bakhmutivka River in northeastern Bakhmut and one along the Khromove-Bakhmut route just west of Bakhmut. The preemptive destruction of bridges is likely an indicator that Ukrainian troops may seek to inhibit Russian movement in eastern Bakhmut and limit potential westward Russian egress routes out of Bakhmut. Ukrainian Presidential Advisor Oleksandr Rodnyanskyi previously stated on February 28 that Ukrainian forces could choose to pull back from positions in Bakhmut as needed. Rodnyanskyi also noted that Ukraine has fortified the area west of Bakhmut such that even if Ukrainian troops begin to withdraw, Russian forces would not necessarily be able to rapidly take the entire city.[3] If the Ukrainian military command deems it necessary to withdraw from Bakhmut it will likely conduct a limited and controlled withdrawal from particularly difficult sectors of eastern Bakhmut judging from Ukrainian statements and reported Ukrainian actions. ISW will continue to monitor the situation and offer updated assessments of the implications of possible Russian courses of action if and when Ukrainian forces begin to pull back.
Well let's see. Putin has already announced that Russia is withdrawing from the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty. That will allow them to start testing and building nuclear weapons again.
So let's just let Russia have their way with the Ukraine. Then with Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland... We will just keep feeding them countries in exchange for them not nuking us. Because that will totally work.
Your attitude is what is going to get us into WW3.
First thing is first not wishful thinking or propaganda. The Eastern Ukraine zones that their native language is Russian and that the majority voted to break off from Ukraine has to be dealt first. Ukraine doesn't want to rule in places that speak a different native language and wants No part of Ukraine or the European Union unless Ukraine wants to fight in an endless civil war. They can't win.
Russia doesn't want the whole Ukraine. Only the eastern parts full of Russians that their native language is Russian. Deal with that first and then you can repeat the boogie man propaganda for Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland. Then deal with the part of NATO not expanding East.
Simple proposition. Why doesn't the US and Ukraine demand a referendum with the UN inspecting if they care so much about "democracy".
Hey everybody's got to eat. Shows just how dumbed down this country is. Buy anything they be sellin.
I ran into a post written at the end of February which mentioned Russian "disinformation." It's funny how posters such as this one believe whatever they're told on the mainstream news channels as if whatever is said there is gospel.
I've written this repeatedly, but just so the pro-Ukraine posters have it in their faces again: U.S. foreign policy played a major role initiating the events that ultimately resulted in this conflict. The U.S., under the Obama administration, supported and was involved with the Maidan "revolution." McCain went there and spoke at rallies to support them. Victoria Nuland talked about who among them were going to take key posts in government and she's on the record saying "f... the EU."
Minsk was a time-buying effort to beef up Ukraine's forces, and Zelesnky admitted he never intended to follow Mink.
But as you said, everybody's got to eat. I won't be holding my breath concerning how many of the pro-Ukrainian posters here are willing to die in a nuclear war which the comedian who paraded naked in that video may be responsible for starting.
Sorry to see you go. Looks like team Putin wins. But arguing with them is pointless. You won't change their mind and they won't change yours. All this arguing is just taking up space. It appears that is what they are doing: filling up the pages with Russian lies and drown out the opposition.
