How is that not slavery?

Apple, Coca-Cola, and Nike spend money to support this slavery.

You make good points. Our politicians are bought and paid for and don't care about the rights of the individual.

The NBA goes over their, our Olympic team goes over there. Sellouts.

Buts its legal for American companies to use slaves, as long as its in another country that allows it? LOL

I believe there is a word for this!

The Super Bowl will be coming up soon and many companies will run ads putting themselves in a positive light and preach social justice.

Some of these companies like Nike, Apple, and Coca Cola literally spent money to lobby congress to protect their literal slave labor.

The word you are looking for is evil hypocrisy.

Is it that much different than the Steel or Mining towns that dotted America where working at the Mill was the only way to scrape up a living? Are these industries that take over a town that much different than an Amazon distribution center?

When people do not have a choice they have to accept what is given to them so slavery is taking away someones choices. Not all slaves were forced to work all day picking cotton and if they refused they were whipped but being "property" even the ones that were treated very well did not have choice but they did have a life. The enslaved in a way are like dogs, some are well cared for as a family pet while others are put to work.

Slaves were given room and board, healthcare, clothes but not a choice to pursue their dreams.

Most of us trade our time to a job we might not even like so we can buy all the things that slaves were given.

We look back 200 years ago and wonder how people could have lived like they did. I'm sure in another 200 years people will look at us and think we were crazy.

History is all about the context and the best we can do is to learn from the mistakes and be better today.
Uighurs are a minority in China that were rounded up into a concentration camp against their will and made to do forced labor. They also are sterilizing people in there. It is genocide.

Apple, Nike, and Coca Cola are literally participating in genocide and slavery, lobbying congress to not block themselves from accessing slave labor.

I'd guess all three of those companies will run super bowl ads about how much they care about human rights.
