I think most of the peoples unemployment for people was exhausted during the past couple years. Many New Yorkers were just not working during lockdowns and they exhausted their unemployment insurance. And the additional money was discontinued.
There's still additional money with child credit checks going out and expanded food stamps.
I think they both continue until the end of this month.
Also Obamacare has bigger subsidies for everyone.
Shots, masks, testing every 3 days for his job.
He also has the NYS and NYC apps for vaccine status that he has to swipe for everywhere that he goes to gain entry.
I asked him if he went back in time to like 1933.
"Show me your papers" has been resurrected in digital form.
Every three days? For real? I think they recently loosened that because it is becoming better known that the tests are highly inaccurate, and also that the shots are not effective, and that the shots are not even a vaccine, oh and that the masks are pointless. And that Covid really is not that deadly at all. And that this all resembles Nazi Germany all too much.
Some people in NY are even starting to suspect that the politicians really do not work in the best interests of New Yorkers!

Employers can set their own rules above and beyond any government mandates.

Yeah well I am trying to leave NYC. As a white male every aspect of living here has been tampered with to force us into poverty. Nobody should live anywhere they are venomously hated this much.
I never saw it the way you do. In my opinion there are far far way too many restaurants. I live within walking distance to maybe 5,000 restaurants and I order take out many once a month.
Other people eat at restaurants for breakfast ($30) lunch (+$25) plus dinner (+$45 more) then they go out for drinks at night (+$50) and a late night snack to try just one more restaurant (+$10). Oh and I forgot tips for everything (+$25 more) oh and a morning coffee (+$5) every day. Oh and for the kids who cannot walk a few blocks to the restaurant add on +$25 more per day for tipping an illegal alien (who all steal Social Security Numbers) add $25 more per day because you can’t walk across the street to pick up your own food. By the end of the day they spent $200+ on restaurants. Multiply that by 365 days (because none of them know how to prepare food on their own) and you get the drift.
There are too many restaurants. There are thousands of restaurants just in my neighborhood.

No.1, it is NOT up to you.
No. 2 if they ARE making money, it means people ARE supporting them. Therefore there is a NEED.

So now, you want to tell people how to spend THERE money?
I know young 'uns that are wait staff and they did go back to work -- even when they could have earned more staying home.
Anecdotal at best.
AND at some point -- four months after the 'extra' UI benefits have expired, are no longer available, we have to wonder if this excuse is still working.
Vaccination Requirement: Workplaces
As of December 27, workers in New York City who perform in-person work or interact with the public in the course of business must show proof they have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Workers will then have 45 days to show proof of their second dose (for Pfizer or Moderna vaccines).
Businesses may not allow any unvaccinated workers to come to their workplace. A workplace is considered any location — including a vehicle — where you work in the presence of at least one other person.
You can show you have received the COVID-19 vaccine with the same proofs of vaccination that are accepted for Key to NYC.
There are "exemptions" and they include:
People who work alone — at home or otherwise — and do not have in-person contact with co-workers or others in the course of their business.
People who enter a workplace briefly for a limited purpose, such as to use the bathroom.
Non-NYC resident performing artists, college or professional athletes, and anyone who accompanies them.
People who have requested reasonable accommodations for medical or religious reasons. If a worker is granted a reasonable accommodation, businesses must record the basis for the accommodation and keep supporting documentation in accordance with the below guidance.

Our neighbor's son quit his $600,000 a year Manhattan Attorney's position and moved back to PA. "What is the point of all that money when you cannot go or do anything?"
Something is making me start to wonder if De Blasio and the Democrats are actually trying to destroy the city...?
Yeah ——Why has it taken you so long to notice?
Is there any city the Dems control that isn’t a craphole??!
