Gee, I didn't know "last year" was actually 52 years ago.

Weekly jobless claims total 198,000, less than expected and around 52-year low

Initial filings for unemployment insurance dipped last week and remained close to their lowest level in more than 50 years, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

Jobless claims for the week ended Dec. 25 totaled 198,000, less than the 205,000 Dow Jones forecast and a dip of 8,000 from the previous period.

When adjusting for weekly volatility, the four-week moving average for claims came to 199,250, the lowest level since Oct. 25, 1969.

All true. And not only that, remember all the gloom and doom the Republicans were spreading like manure about supply chain issues, no presents under the tree, no turkey on the table, no Santa!? It never happened. Joe rolled up his sleeves and worked with the shipping industry to clear the ports and get the goods to the stores and doors.

Can we once and for all acknowledge that more people will drop out of the labor market as boomers continue to retire.

Back in 2019 there were stories of the number of boomers continuing to stay in the workforce. https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tan...s-labor-force/

Could be COVID pushed people out. How many boomers went -- whoa not worth it -- I'm done -- and they pulled out of the work force?

Is it so bad to have a shrinking workforce.

It definitely is an employee market. I don't care if it is unskilled labor or skilled -- there seems to be great opportunities out there.

Is that a bad thing?

So we should see the unemployment rate stay unchanged?

Why don't those people go and get one of those unskilled jobs at Total Wine or Costco if they NEED a job?

God forbid someone demean themselves by doing whatever is necessary to support themselves or a family.
Better to sit home proud and broke I guess. Great plan.
