Historically, walls do not work all that great, people can go over, around, under or thru them.

Democrats claimed fences don’t work, now they have to round migrants up like cattle while on horseback with a whip in Texas heat under an overpass, which is much more humane.

Face it, our borders are asinine. No one wants to do anything about it and if someone tries, they're just laughed at. So, just leave it as is, the future has spoken and clearly it will get better on it's own in due time, right?

As long as we have people (like you, for instance) who believe trying to do anything (a wall, a line of SUV's) about the ineffectiveness of our borders is just pulling asinine stunts, we'll have in-fighting on what to do about the borders and the increasing numbers of illegals coming into our country every day and nothing, as usual, will be done. What's asinine is how some people cannot fathom how this in time is going to change this country.

We are a people who have faced adversity, fought for our freedom, worked for our privileges and earned all of it. This is no longer open, undeveloped land to be taken and conquered. That time has long passed. We are a fully developed country and the bleeding hearts who whine but, but, we are all immigrants need to understand this simple fact. Now we are going to just hand it over, give it away to people who will not fight for their freedom, work for their privileges and need someone to take care of them. I am talking general before I get pounced on because we know everyone is not exactly alike just as black is not white and which is why at this time in history the U.S. needs it's borders and needs to have the means to enforce them. Asinine is watching drastic events unfold before your very own eyes and being naive enough to believe it will never in time affect you or the future of your children.

Wow you better tell all those dangerous prisoners locked up how easy it is to leave since the “walls don’t work.”

Be sure to ring the door bell of the Whitehouse since the walls protecting it “don’t work” and apparently you can walk through them.

And go ahead and enter a bank vault since the walls protecting them don’t work. And go ahead and tell North Koreans to escape since the walls keeping them in don’t work.

'One day there were countless people coming across the border, then the DPS put up all these DPS vehicles, and suddenly, in an instant, people stopped crossing the border in this location. That strategy is working.'
Walls work

But then, everyone but the idiots already knows walls work.

please Abbot is a failure he is doing the bare minimum he can. He can call up the state Guard and put 15000 troops on the border to deal with this surge if he really wanted to try to stem the tide. He's playing politics like the rest of them. Doing just enough to appease a lot of the base but not enough to really do anything about the problem. It makes a great anti Dem, anti Biden talking point so politically the worse the situation is the better for him and his party. Just another example of how politicians don't actually want to solve any problems they just want to get credit for doing something while letting the problem go on so they can blame their political enemies.

You're acting like it's Abbott's job to protect this country and to solve its problems. It is not his job to do, it is Biden's* and he is the one who is the absolute failure in doing it.

And the problem with this is you are just being another person who is playing politics. I nor you nor anybody else will get Biden to do a damn thing. So because its "biden's fault" we should all throw up our hands and do nothing about it? As the chief Executive of the State most dealing with this it is absolutely Abbot's responsibility to act when the Feds refuse to. Biden will face the consequences of this come election time until then individual states will have to take up the burden.

The left doesn't like walls. Because they know they work and their agenda is open borders. If you want open borders walls are a bad thing. They leave the border wide open and use walls for their subdivisions and the capitol. Walls only work when strategically placed to protect the elite.

What is the check writing you are talking about? When did I say Mexico was going to write a check? They did not pay for the wall. That is obvious. Even if you want to use new math and say they are paying for it with the new trade agreement. No. Not true.

Trump said this:

https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...mexico-pay-it/

"Mark my words," Donald Trump said when he launched his presidential campaign on June 16, 2015.
Trump had just promised to "build a great wall," on the U.S.-Mexico border, "very inexpensively."
"And I will have Mexico pay for that wall," he said.

If the wall had been completed and it paid for by Mexico we would not have all these Haitians easily crossing the border. Its a double failure of Trump not doing what he said he would do and Biden doing nothing at all about it. We could have had it paid for with remittances to Mexico (taxing that money) but they paid nothing at all. It got bottled up by the Democrats and here we are today.

Are you completely oblivious to what is going on down at our border right now?

Biden refuses to finish that wall and the Democrat bucked Trump all the way in his effort to at least get half of it done. I guess you're completely oblivious to that to?
Obviously the dems do not want it. That is why Trump had to get it finished. Its like saying my house is 90% safe. Only issue is this big hole in the side of my house where anyone can walk in and out. 90% is like zero.
Trump wall: How much has he actually built?

And lets look at Trump's wall. They extended the wall 80 miles more than when he took office. Mostly they replaced older sections of the existing wall and fencing. 80 miles. Illegals keep flooding in more than ever. Obviously the wall promise is a dismal failure. And it was one of my favorite proposals that Trump made. You have to unpartisan yourself and look at things how they really are. Just because Biden could be the worst president ever does not change Trump's failings. We can do better than these two failed parties.

It's 452 miles (727 km) in total, according to the latest US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) information (4 January 2021).

However, only 80 miles of new barriers have been built where there were none before - that includes 47 miles of primary wall, and 33 miles of secondary wall built to reinforce the initial barrier.

The vast majority of the 452 miles is replacing existing structures at the border that had been built by previous US administrations.
