All I can say is....that Teacher’s Union sure has the Dems fought and paid for!
I can see it as a reward for others in the program - first responders who put their lives on the line during COVID - but teachers?? They didn’t even have to leave the house for a year, and have fought tooth-and-nail against returning to the classroom. Around here at least, teachers earn close to $100,000 by mid-career, and that’s with summers off. Why should they be excused from down payment requirements?
you put teachers in the title. you denigrate teachers in the first sentence of your post.
all of that is on you.
The reality is that plenty of normal/big Bank lenders are thrilled to provide 1st time buyers programs that allow them to pay 0 down, no PMI mortgages ....
to those who qualify.
ergo, there is exactly ZERO reason for the Fed government to get involved. poorly-aimed outrage or no.

Pointing out that the Teacher’s Union has bought influence - which included how the CDC worded announcements re COVID and teachers - isn’t denigrating teachers. It’s pointing our that Democrat-supporting unions are bad news. So I’m not sure what’s “on me.”
And the feds do get involved when banks make risky loans to people. Taxpayers end up bailing them out.

No, none of them are thrilled because they know it is a huge risk. The housing crash taught us that.
This is less a news article and more of an ad for Credible. That's some sneaky stuff. Make sure you click on one of the many 'Credible' links in the articles -- sponsored by Credible (meaning they paid for the article to be written and printed -- like an ad).
U.S. Rep. John Katko (R, NY-24) today introduced the Homes for Every Local Protector, Educator, and Responder (HELPER) Act. This bipartisan legislation would create a new home loan program under the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) for teachers and first responders, including law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics. Rep. Katko introduced this measure alongside U.S. Reps. Al Lawson (D, FL-5), John Rutherford (R, FL-04), and Bonnie Watson Coleman (D, NJ-12).

It's a bipartisan bill. If you want to argue against influence, that's fine, but in this case its Congress generally, not one party. I for one am glad to see something reaching across the aisle actually get proposed.

You're right. It is also flagrantly illegal for the central government to get involved. Nothing in the Constitution could possibly be interpreted as authorizing this.

Risk?
They'll sell the new mortgage five minutes after it's created.
