Many of the rioters displayed overtly racist, Nazi, Confederate, and other white supremacist clothing and symbols. It's clear what the beliefs of many in that group were.
The attack occurred in part because of racial resentment, fomented by Trump for years.

Exactly! There was opposition to illegal immigration by law abiding Americans well before Trump ever took office. Isn't every president supposed to protect us from an illegal invasion and secure our borders but all of a sudden it's wrong because Trump has been the first president for years that has tried to do it?
