Republican blocked election security bills in 2020. Why change voting rules in 2021?

Quote:
By all accounts, Florida ran a virtually flawless election in 2020. There were no major reports of fraud, long lines or ballots of eligible voters being disqualified due to non-matching signatures.

Voters didn’t even let the coronavirus pandemic get in their way. Overall turnout hit a stunning 77 percent of the electorate — its highest level in Florida in nearly two decades. Floridians of all political party affiliations voted by mail in record numbers, too, with 53 percent of Democrats and 35 percent of Republicans choosing to cast their ballots this way.

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis said Florida had set the “gold standard” for how to run an election by doing it so well in a difficult year.

Despite that, DeSantis and the GOP-controlled legislature insisted new security measures were needed, aligning themselves with former president Donald Trump’s false claims that fraud is a widespread threat to elections.

The Communists used the coronavirus to pass laws making it easy for them to massively cheat and they are fighting tooth and claw to keep those laws so they can control elections from now on. Election integrity is gone.

Republicans are afraid they will lose flawless elections and are much more comfortable when they have their fingers on the scale.

It’s called being proactive. When you see these other states that screwed up bigly last year, taking proactive measures to ensure the same thing won’t happen to Florida next time is the responsible thing to do. Every state should actually follow in Florida’s footstep.

Our elections are one of the most important processes in the country. We need to make sure only the people qualified to vote cast ballots. A government issued ID should be required for every vote, PERIOD. If there are voters who can not make the effort to vote, that means they do not care enough to try to learn and make an informed decision.

"Voter fraud" is Republican code for "we lost because of the African-American vote".

I love it. Everyone that wants to vote can cast a vote. No one is losing any rights. The Democrats planned to steal Florida next. They were gonna try to make it the next Georgia. It won't happen now. DeSantis is doing awesome. I will vote for him in 2022 and will be voting for him as he runs for president in 2024.
