My interpretation is basic at best...so some of you who actually have a more intelligent understanding -- please fix it.......but

'm no software app expert but I think it is important o make sure everyone understands how they work.
These sites -- no matter how small or big, make money on 'user's, 'visits',...the more the merrier. They sell ad space based on HOW many people use their app - not on WHO uses their app.

The ultimate goal of any of these apps is to make money. They make money by selling ads. The revenue from those ads is based on users.

So the ultimate goal is to get anyone and everyone on their site. That' why Parler is not banning liberals. Sure sure they are telling you they are embracing all vies, no censorhip -- blah blah.....pfft...they want folks to sign up so they can go to businesses and say -- WOW -- look how many people use our site.

Sure -- some of them get big enough that they can purposely choose to ban porn sites, jerks, rude people, peole who use bad language & Presidents who might be encouraging the wrong people to get angry and fight.

But the ultimate goal is to not acquire users but have activity on that site. to sell that to advertisers.

That's how those apps work.

Parler is not moderating now and is allowing any dip wit to post the grossest, most disgusting or the most hateful things. As someone pointed out -- while the right likes it -- it isn't all right.

But that will only last until they have garnered a bit of a following. They will need to make money like very other app.

Parler is enjoying a certain notoriety and that may attract users but they have to keep them and then attract advertisers based on their user activity.

Non of this has free speech factors for discussion. It is stupid. Twitter deemed President Trump's tweets to be piling on to the negative, biolent rhetoric. Their decision. If I walked into Macys and was obnoxious -- Macys could deem my behaviour not good for their business an dI'm out -- not because I don't like Trump but because it isn't good for their business. As I do -- I wandered of topic.

Ultimately the success of all of these sites is the activity that users participate in. There is no business strategy that would suggest limiting half of the country or close to it -- would be good for business.

So -- Twitter and others must have seem some stuff that they have cause for concern...and so now they are -- good word for 2020 and 2021 mitigating the potential for violent groups to organize.

I think it about political philosophy. Twitter, tech companies and global corporations support open borders and large pool of tech workers immigrating. Conservatives general don't support that.

You are correct in that you don’t understand fully how a site makes money. Who uses the site is very important. Certain demographics attract different ad sales dollars. Just eyeballs are not enough. They want to advertise to the eyeballs that will buy their product. How much sense would it make for Bernie Sanders to advertise on parler even if millions of users see that ad.
Tons of revenue is made off of selling user lists and those lists need to be qualified by type of user - location, age, interests....the better the qualification, the more money you can make.
You want to customize the user experience so that a user stays longer and you can gather more data.
Many new apps make their money by selling it to a larger company and cashing out or possibly bringing it public - that is the plan. For that plan to work, they need to develop a technology or a market niche that attracts users to the buyer’s apps. So parler would be looking to develop itself for eventual sale to a company that either wants their user base or wants their technology or needs that sort of platform. Maybe parler develops a great way to mediate or a unique way to link like minded users to each other or some security feature that could be used by other internet products. I personally think parler would be of interest to a company in the porn space. Internet porn is big business and there seems to be overlap.
Some make their money off of subscriptions or charging for premium content or a special feature. You pay for Spotify without the ads or for the nytimes cooking feature. Maybe they could charge more provide access to more hard core porn.

The conservative viewpoint is free markets and limited/no regulation on business and commerce. This includes free markets on worker pools.
