And it’s having a negative affect on society whether you Godless lefties want to admit it or not!
Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Atheists and lefties are not the cause of the problem they're a symptom of the problem.
"There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root, and it may be that he who bestows the largest amount of time and money on the needy is doing the most by his mode of life to produce that misery which he strives in vain to relieve." - Henry David Thoreau

Prosperity-gospel Christians are worse than atheists. Materialistic degenerates that hide behind the cross and corrupt people by the millions.
"The devout and politically free inhabitant of New England is a kind of Laocoön who makes not the least effort to escape from the serpents which are crushing him. Mammon is his idol which he adores not only with his lips but with the whole force of his body and mind. In his view the world is no more than a Stock Exchange, and he is convinced that he has no other destiny here below than to become richer than his neighbor. Trade has seized upon all his thoughts, and he has no other recreation than to exchange objects. When he travels he carries, so to speak, his goods and his counter on his back and talks only of interest and profit. If he loses sight of his own business for an instant it is only in order to pry into the business of his competitors. Indeed, in North America, the practical domination of (materialism) over the Christian world has achieved as its unambiguous and normal expression that the preaching of the Gospel itself and the Christian ministry have become articles of trade, and the bankrupt trader deals in the Gospel just as the Gospel preacher who has become rich goes in for business deals." - Karl Marx

Some of my maxims for life... "If there is no god, there is nothing you have to do. If there is no god, you can do anything you want. If there is nothing you can do, there is nothing you have to do."

Pilot1 is essentially correct. Wars are not started organically by religion. They're the consequence of ambitious "leaders" who use religion(belief/faith/propaganda/ideology/etc) to manipulate the masses into fighting their wars.
"Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." - Hermann Goering
The church and the state are essentially the same thing. The evils supposedly carried out in the name of religion were actually carried out by the state, and for matters of state. Religion may have provided a justification, but it was not the reason.
The purpose of the Spanish Inquisition was political not religious. It was primarily about territorial control. You can think of the Spanish Inquisition kind of like a Stalinist purge.
It isn't religion that is dangerous, it is the state. I think the reason people perceive the state as more benign than religion is that they imagine they can control it. Thus the state can be infinitely molded to be whatever we want it to be, while religion is effectively stuck in place.

I guess since even toadie Barr has announced there's no evidence of massive voter fraud some will feel compelled to find new things to blame on those dang lefties.
I thought the right loved the freedom that our country allows us to have. She is free to do what she wants in her life. It has no effect on anyone else's life. Let people live how they want to live.
so that we're on the same page, when you talk about God, do you mean the god republicans believe in, or the God from the Christian Bible? Because only one of those two has a problem with transgendered people.
Read the title. He tells you. It turns people into moral degenerates.
He's implying that ethics and aesthetics are intertwined. The question is, could he have a point?
Even the left are sensitive to the fact that cultural (aesthetic, creative, innovative) standards do exist, and that they've degenerated over the space of a generation. Do you think our culture moving to the secular left has no relation to it becoming rancid so quickly?
