Those employees need to start their job hunt now, take no mind of that threat.

I can't believe that these folks, when they accepted appointed positions, didn't realize that they would lose that job should there be a change of administration? In the US employment is 'at will', an employee can be fired so long as the reason isn't illegal. Always look at a potential employer critically and work your professional network for better opportunities.

Of course they realized that issue. What they didn’t know is that they’d have to employ total secrecy in seeking a new job.

Yep. Put out feelers and employers would be understanding and act with discretion in terms of calling up for references. Gotta do it now, the job market is tight. If they fire you? Well you’d be out of a job in January regardless.

Not gonna be a good time looking for work when shutdowns are enacted sooner or later. They may as well just hang around for 2 more months

This goes back to basic job applications where they ask "can we contact your employer", never understood that one, as if the employer applied to is clueless a person applying for another job can be retaliated against.

It’s tricky. Low level staffers are going to have a hard time riding this out.

Not gonna be a good time to look for work once your name gets onto Alexandria Ocasio McCarthy's and the rest of the progressive Dem Caucus' blacklist.

It sounds like you are are not a hiring manager. No hiring manager calls a prospective employees' current employer unless the prospects tells them they can.

Thank you, never ever heard that reference.

I know low level staffers can afford to live in the DC Metro Area because I've known a lot of people who worked in administrations since Reagan starting at the lowest levels and working their way up. Like most young people in their early careers they have roommates. DC is relatively expensive overall, but you can still find studios under $1,000 in nice neighborhoods and Baltimore is even cheaper.

No point in looking with the Dems pushing the George Soros funded, "Trump Accountability Project". The Blacklists are back.

This is what employers do these days. If you are going to look for another job, and they find out, they often do a preemptive strike and find someone to replace you. There is nothing unique about this. I have seen people give two weeks notice, to be "let go" before those two weeks were up.

Employer finds out you are looking for a job, you may end up with no job. I am sure as a businessman, Trump is very aware of the standard. For this reason, allowing a prospective employer to contact your current employer can be "dicey".

Come on, people, do you live under rocks or what?
