Eh, the South is filled with one party rule. They just give themselves billions in taxpayer dollars for whatever they want. California has the 5th largest economy in the world, they will be fine.
The 5th largest economy statements are getting old.. California is declining. People are fleeing. Theres homeless everywhere . People working full time and living under bridges. Taxes are insane. Failed schools. Anti Business laws and regulation will send it into the gutter faster and faster.

Once you get out of the major cities, there are more than a few hard-Right Redneck Californians out there. Or at least there used to be.
Tons of them. The high desert is 50% rednecks, 25% hippies and 25% meth labs. Most of them old, because young people who can hack a future the heck away from the high desert run away to the big city as soon as they can.
Many cities and few other states are one party rule already. A that top two voting frequently keeps out opposing and alternative 3 parties. The party that will win is decided by the end of the primaries. The general election is just fill in the blank,
Be a little tougher nationally but with social media and tv coverage or non coverage of issues they can create any narrative they want.
