In 1928, Charles Curtis -- a Native American lawmaker and member of the Kaw Nation -- was elected as President Herbert Hoover's vice president.

Curtis grew up in North Topeka, Kansas, where he was born to a White father and a one-quarter Kaw Indian mother. He was the great-great grandson of White Plume, a Kaw chief known for offering to help the Lewis and Clark expedition in 1804, according to the US Senate.

He spent much of his childhood living with his maternal grandparents on the Kaw reservation in Council Grove, Kansas. Curtis evenspoke Kansa, the Siouan language of the Great Plains, before he learned English.

No matter how you paint it, commie horris is not the first person of color to be Vice President of the USA

Interesting. Perhaps you could use your research skills to help trump find some voter fraud evidence. He needs help.

In related news, straw grasping is now thought to be the primary contributor to carpal tunnel disease.

Mostly, it is just because Harlot Harris is ignorant.

It makes me happy that it was someone that was part Native American, that just seem right!

I am surprised having lived in KS for quite some time that I never heard of this before. We often go to historical places and such, but my husband, born and raised in KS, said he remembers something about it.

I'm no racist. I've spent considerable time on several Reservations. Whenever I was there, visiting or working, American Indians usually had red tinted (except some mix raced individuals) skin. In fact, almost always had red tinted skin.

Therefore, they are definitely proud people of color

So, horris will not be first person of color if inaugurated!

She may be the first woman who slept her way to the top and the first Asian/Jamacan woman and the first Vice President who is married to a Jewish husband.

So that "person of color" boat has already sailed
