"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is facing a Democratic reckoning as voters and politicians alike conduct a postmortem on what caused Democrats to shrink their majority in the House of Representatives.

Ahead of Tuesday’s election, House Democrats were poised to expand their majority in the lower chamber of Congress. Instead, voters chose to give House Republicans five new seats.

With hopes of a “blue wave” dashed, Pelosi’s ambitious legislative goals for the 2021 congressional calendar are in jeopardy as she faces the ever-increasing likelihood of a Republican-held Senate."

Isn't it time she just retired, as she's even older than Biden.

Pelosi's power has always been her deep ties to the very rich, wallstreet etc. and she brings in A LOT of money to the democratic party.

We'll see if she gets dethroned or not, she hasn't been in that role for so long without being a master of "the game".

Not sure why R's want to see her gone, I personally think that she helps them.

It's good to see some honesty for once from the Dems about their poor showing in the house elections, albeit behind closed doors (except for the leakers...)

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...e-Twitter.html

'It was a failure. It was not a success. We lost incredible members of Congress.'

'No one should say 'defund the police' ever again,'

'Nobody should be talking about socialism.'

'We need to do a real autopsy and dig through it' before attacking each other.

'Something went wrong,'

Pelosi may hold on, I sure hope so. The squad is circling like piranhas though...

This election actually went fairly predictably. The democrat's overreaction to covid (possibly.. depends on the person... maybe not) , passively condoning protestors and allowing them to burn cities (definitely), continued talk of racism among the NFL and NBA and major media outlets (definitely), and their "defund the police" movement (basically lax on crime policies) turned people off, but Trump's behavior turned people off to him, so what happened?

They did like one of my co-workers did... voted straight republican for everything else but voted for Biden as president. I think that's more common than people here think. The result is to my satisfaction.. gridlock is good.

The squad is a lot more to blame than Nancy for the Democrats poor performance.

Pelosi has a habit of upsetting people and has an acerbic manner.

On the global stage she has mired herself in other countries business that has nothing to do with her.

The recent trade deal threats with regard to Britain, the misplaced criticism of UK and European pharma regulations and her meeting with hard left communist Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour Party in Britain last year, as Boris Johnson clearly didn't want to meet her. Corny's Labour Party have now been found to have been guilty of anti semitism by the The Equality and Human Rights Commission.

In terms of relations between Britain and the US they will become ever more strained with people like Pelosi in positions of power, and Biden himself may also be a problem.

However with Biden 78 years old later this month and Pelosi is 81 years old in March, you have to wonder how long these people can go on.

In the UK they would have already been consigned to the House of Lords and the oldest member of the UK House of Commons, known as the Father of the House is Peter Bottomley who only recently turned 76, and who is a backbencher with few current responsibilities beyond that of his constituents. Even the House of Lords, the dumping ground for former politicians has an average age of 70, which is well below the likes of Pelosi and Biden.

Which begs the question why do the US have such old and decrepit politicians and judges, indeed they increasingly cling to power like something from the Soviet politburo.

Those looking for her ouster need to look in the mirror. If they are socialists, they caused the lackluster results. Socialists are not going to gain any headway in a state like VA.
