It’s not a difficult topic to master.

Look into the world’s carry capacity. Research how energy sources have allowed our population and lifespans to increase as we discover more available energy. Take petroleum and gas away, and the end result is a carrying capacity of approx 3 billion people dependent on biomass and renewable energy to survive. There’s no graceful drop in population when you remove our main energy source. There will be a mass die off of oh ... about five billion people, as resources disappear. Enjoy denuded forests as they’re cut down for heating and cooking fuel. Enjoy living to the ripe age of 35, because when you say no to fossil fuels, you say no to the hypodermic needle that delivers life-saving medications.

Think real hard on this one. It’s not a topic for blithe opinions.

You surely know that Synthetic oil IS a petroleum product.

As far as banning or getting rid of petroleum products ..... I have no problem with the Leftists refusing all deliveries of anything that uses the Evil Petroleum AND all of it's byproducts.

The rest of us can just live our lives and they can figure out that cars, trains, trucks, deliveries, planes, boats, ships, lights, heat and normal life just stops.

.
I started to respond to that but figured it MUST be sarcasm. Nobody is that ignorant.

Or are they?

I grew up in a town that was corporate headquarters of an oil company historically and had an oil refinery (and still does). We learned in about 3rd grade that less than half of a barrel of oil actually ended up being gasoline and oil.

It was interesting that information about the oil industry was a component of our education. I remember we learned that the oil companies only got 1% profit from the price of a gallon of gas (which was about 30 cents a gallon at the time).

All the more reason to start growing hemp again it can replace a number of these.

Indeed the product I make at work is produced with a rayon based fiber which is derived from cellulose. (Lenzing) There's lots of applications where you could substitute.

Still you are right we are not giving up oil anytime soon that's a pipe dream. It will be a gradual process as technology allows us to do it combined with some sensible progressive legislation that doesn't go too far too fast. Most oil companies have seen this is coming and have heavily invested in alternative energy they hardly be called oil companies anymore as much as they are energy companies.

You can thank the unionized Liberal public school system for that.

Oils are your life.

You have 168 oil refineries, but only 16 produce gasoline.

The other 152 produce your Life-Style.

Without oils, there's no such thing as liquid laundry detergent.

You have to go back to powder and start lugging big bulky boxes of laundry detergent around.

Without oils, you would have a negative birth-rate approaching -5.0% per year because your annual death rate would increase.

The good news is you would save Social Security because your Average Life-Expectancy from Age 65 would decrease 12 years.
