In San Diego (like everywhere else) black and Hispanic students get worse grade and get in trouble more than white students. (Also Asian students do better than whites but that shouldn't be mentioned.)

And what are these racist practices being changed you might wonder?

Academic grades will now focus on mastery of the material, not a yearly average, which board members say penalizes students who get a slow start, or who struggle at points throughout the year.

So... diligence, punctuality and decorum -- encouraging these traits in students is racist, and causes the diverse to get worse grades.
I sometimes get the sense that the impetus behind a lot of these new “woke” policies is actually despair at the impossibility of closing racial gaps, and in response, abandoning any effort to deal with “root causes” in favour of throwing out any metric, scale, or statistic that would reveal the gap. Black students get suspended more than Asians and Whites? No more suspensions. Black students get lower standardized test scores? Fine, no more standardized tests. Blacks commit violent crimes more often? Well, if the police would just stop arresting Black suspects those statistics wouldn’t exist, so abolish the police.
There is a brutal directness to this approach. There’s a lot of flim flam about “systemic racism” and “White privilege” thrown about, but isn’t this what it boils down to? The numbers are going to be bad so tear down everything that reveals those numbers. No more reform.
This reeks of the "Critical Race Theory" crap that was being spread this past summer.

Hard work, punctuality, politeness etc. are all indications that you are white. Implying that black people (or whatever color is the Flavor of the Week) don't have them.

Additionally, if a student does not "master" the standard, i.e., pass the test, he/she must relearn and do it over until he/she masters the standard.

How do they relearn and do it over until it is mastered and keep up with the class?
Yes, let's combat racism by being racist against white school children .
What about the fact that there are schools where non-whites on the average do much better academically than whites? And, no the secret is not lenient grading but another magic solution that works the vast majority of the time.

What about them? They're not being scapegoated and discriminated against for black and hispanic group outcomes.
The solution is to classify Indians are students of color and that will raise the averages: presto!
Then Indians would receive affirmative action. Why not just get rid of affirmative action by race classification?
