No it isn't a form of packing the court for the same reason that ventriloquism isn't a method of fishing. Words actually have meanings, and packing the court means something very specific.

Obviously you are right on several points. Clearly you didn't read the original post and clearly you haven't the faintest clue what the term "packing the court" actually means. It's very simple. If the court has 9 justices, you just add 10 seats and 10 justices. Now whatever the existing justices did or didn't believe is instantly irrelevant because you just made your political puppets the majority. That is what "packing the court" has meant for well over a century.

Democrats didn't change the rule for supreme court picks. The reason Democrats changed the rule to begin with was unprecedented obstruction by Republicans that made the last two years look like little league play. When the minority of the country seats the majority of the supreme court, we have a problem. Pretending that Republicans haven't been hellbent on exploiting every rule for their own advances in power is ridiculous. Take the blinders off.

If the democrats try to pack the courts, they represent a danger to our system of checks and balances and should be treated as such.

I hope she has to swim to Washington DC if the Democrats get their Green New Deal. Her state can say bye bye to tourism dollars, too.

It takes two to tango and it obstruction is only obstruction when you are trying to demand that your side gets everything and the opposition gets nothing. The Democrats really do hate it when the Republicans have a rare moment where they grow a spine and hit back with the same tactics that the Democrats have used for decades. The Democrats wrote the book on obstruction. The Republicans during the Obama years were mere amateurs at it.

When it comes to the courts, the political f-ckery begins with the Democrats changing the rules from 2/3 majority to 3/5 majority to confirm. Then they escalated things further the complete railroading of Bork -- by the Democrats. Then the Democrats escalated things further when they came up with the ridiculous Pro Forum Senate sessions, giving George W the proverbial middle finger and effectively ending recess appointments. Then they loaded up the Nuclear Option. The only reason the Democrats never specified that the Nuclear Option could apply to Supreme Court picks was because they never got the chance to try it. Every SCOTUS nomination since the Nuclear Option became a thing has happened while the Republicans controlled the Senate. Do you honestly think they wouldn't have done exactly the same thing??

That sadly sums up the modern Democrat party.
