I bet primarily white demolibs painted it. Just like who did the naked President Trump statues right after the 2016 election and all who traveled to the statues to take selfies with it. The typical "I'm ready for Hillary" losers. That's all this statement is, just an anti-Trump /Republican gag. Nothing more. Only people whose primary news sources are CNN and MSNBC would fail to realize that Trump agrees 100% with the statement "Black Lives Matter." Trump has done more to improve the circumstances of blacks in America than any president that came before him and he's quite proud of it.
Now any sane American will agree that black lives matter. In fact, the response of "All lives matter." is a statement in the affirmative, agreeing with the message. There are insanely few Americans who actually believe that black lives don't matter, and it's incredibly patronizing, insulting and downright racist to assume otherwise. A rather massive part of our political discourse is devoted to the discussion on how to improve the circumstances for blacks in America. Both Republicans and Democrats want to help black people, they just disagree on how to get it done.
Now you can agree with the underlying statement "black lives matter" without endorsing the long-con Neo-Marxist Revolutionary organization that hijacked those words as a smokescreen to further it's Marxist Revolutionary agenda.
I still hope there's still progress in renaming that particular section of Fifth Avenue "President Barack H. Obama Avenue". There were some 300,000 signatures on a petition at last count.
