Safe to say because not many Republicans 'rule' in big cities.

OP, I’ve felt the same deep sadness and anger over the changes in Denver and Colorado.
I used to live in Evergreen and commuted to Denver when Colorado was still a red state. CO was never far right wing, just mostly rural and conservative in values.
Then as lots of Californians moved there it turned purple. Then as MORE Californians along with hispanic immigrants all voting blue, it finally turned dark blue. Legalizing marijuana brought a whole influx of liberals and their problems.

Boise and many ID cities were ruled by R’s. Boise was clean and safe and great for business.
Now Boise is turning purple with so many Californians fleeing there, and it is starting to see the negative effects that democrats bring. Coeur d’Alene, ID is still red I believe, and it is still clean and safe and good for business.

Ive lived in the Denver area for 8 years. Its was pretty mixed when we moved here and downtown was decent but now, unless its for work or a show we never go downtown. Bums everywhere, way overpriced food and parking...its just not that attractive. Now if I were fresh out of school its not a bad place to start a career but with a family I think Denver is overrated...we are looking to leave.
