AMC Theatres won't require customers to wear face masks when it reopens this summer, CEO and President Adam Aron said in an interview with Variety.

"We did not want to be drawn into a political controversy," Aron told the magazine. "We thought it might be counterproductive if we forced mask wearing on those people who believe strongly that it is not necessary."

It really should not be political. It's a health issue.

Oh well...it's up to them. The trash out of Hollywood isn't worth me going to their theaters.

The more interesting question is how many people will show up to sit shoulder-to-shoulder with total strangers for two hours.

Hard to munch stale, over-salted popcorn and sip overpriced, watered-down sodas while wearing a mask.

Well, that's better.

But still - sitting inside sharing recycled air for two hours with a bunch of strangers who are laughing at the funny stuff, shouting "woohoo" when the bad guy gets it, and/or shrieking and gasping at the scary parts - well, it will be interesting to see how many people think that's JUST how they want to spend their time.

AMC changed its mind and now will require masks. Still, mask or not, a crowded movie theater is about the least safe place I can think of next to a Trump rally.

I am conservative but I really don't think the far-right should be putting up a fight over wearing a mask in public. It really isn't that much of an inconvenience. If we really had just used some common sense with COVID, we would be in much better shape right now.
