Lack of international travel, provincialism.

Look at the lifestyle differences...

This. Not sure how people haven’t figured this out yet. It’s the same reason why NY has so many cases, as opposed to Wyoming.

Ah, noted. I had not known that denizens of the continent of Africa were on anti-malaria medication. Truly, I did not know that.

Yes, and from what I understand, it’s over the counter. Not that that’s advisable, of course....just pointing it out.

Yes, citizens of Africa don't have the same problems as African-Americans as you mentioned diabetes, heart disease, overweight and smokers. Many showing up at these hospitals didn't even realize they had medical issues due to lack of healthcare. There is no proof that malaria drugs reduce the infections, and they don't have any statistics that the drug is widely used.

The first world is better interlinked with transportation systems, so it is easier for the virus to propagate. Isolated locates function like social distancing, so remote places in Africa may not be effected until later. That being said though, it would be interesting to do a study to see if people who are already being medicated with certain drugs are disproportionately less impacted by COVID-19 (with statistical significance).

We kinda don't know much about what's going on in Africa.

Take Ethiopia. They've tested 2,790 people. That's in a population of 100 million, which is greater than any single European Union member and 1/3 the US population. For every 1 million Ethiopians, 24 have been tested. And within the tiny tiny slice of people they've actually looked at, 56 tested positive and 2 have died. Are there people dying of Covid-19 where nobody knows what killed them? Almost certainly.

The same seems to hold true in every African country I can see. Even countries like Egypt. Very little testing has been done there as well. The only slight exception I'm seeing is South Africa.

Now if it holds that Africa really is getting only very lightly hit, then maybe sunnier weather really does help. Should be interesting to follow.

It's because they take the Trump drug already for malaria and also maybe because the heat slows the spread.

I'd take those reports with a grain of salt... how consistent is the testing in the various African countries?

Maybe, though! Do people in malaria-ridden countries take that medication all the time for prevention, or do they only take it if they get malaria? (I have no idea.) I read that people who have been vaccinated against TB might have some protection. Not that this is related to TB, but it challenges the immune system in a similar (stronger) way that the live TB vaccine challenges the immune system. I don't know which African countries, if any, vaccinate for TB or whether that could also be a factor.

I've only seen a breakdown of race and fatality rate and infection rate.
If you have data comparing races controlled for underlying conditions being the same then please share it.
What you are implying if everything else is the same then doctors and nurses are just letting them die because they are black.
