One of the comments from the article probably explains this best...
"The DNA evidence they have proves that they violated Alabama's incest law, which bars relations with her half-uncle. The law is a bit odd, because genetically they are the same as first cousins, and Alabama allows first cousins to marry. They would also have to charge the both of them, since they continued their relationship after her age of majority. The State probably didn't think that imprisoning both parents made a lot of sense."
Conservatives are more tolerant than the left that's for sure, her uncle isn't going to rape her now that the whole world knows, and the rest of Alabama. Everyone has a gun.
That’s disgusting and horrible and she shouldn’t be victimized again for the rest of her life
It is. But let's not take it out on the judge. The judge was only following state law, which does not terminate parental rights of rapists, which is sick and disgusting. The legislature needs to act.
I wonder why her uncle was not convicted, “despite evidence and DNA”. In absence of a conviction, the uncle is not a rapist. There is obviously more to this story.
Also wonder if Alabama courts require uncle to pay child support.
