Thank you, OP!
Reading through this thread, though, I'm reminded of a priest in my childhood church who did a sermon "People for whom mother's day is painful". Very eye-opening, and an invitation to be more aware of those in our lives.
Not everyone walks the same walk or experiences the same positives. This was way back in the 1970's, way before the "woke" generation, and he had the ability to encourage us to be open to other people's perspectives, not just the majority view that Mother's Day is one great big huge smile fest. For a variety of reasons. People who have lost their mothers, people who didn't feel accepted by their mothers, women who wanted to be mothers but weren't able to, bereft mothers, etc.
So to all those in this forum for whom Mother's Day isn't a party, wishing you a peaceful day.
This is the kind of garbage from ultra liberals that I hate and it only shows their ignorance instead of their wokeness.
Mothers are not necessarily the person who gave birth. Mothers are the women who nurture and raise their children with love and compassion. Just ask anyone who was adopted.
I am thankful for my Mom. And I am glad that she got to see her great, great granddaughter before passing.
I think that would be to the 5th generation.
P.S. sorry victimofGM I didn't mean to turn the page on your excellent post.
