If anything is bringing the US closer to being a banana republic it's a POTUS who makes up a 'national emergency' in a lame attempt at circumventing the law of the land.

i read the post title and first thought was the police SWAT teams and such in the "war on drugs" and also the patriot act curbing constitutional protections but then i read your topic and think banana trump could maybe run a small republic swell
