States are majority rule. The West is very connected, the South is very connected and the Northeast is very connected. The Midwest would likely go with the South. Some purple states would need to figure it out. It would not be that complicated really. Blue states could pursue healthcare, technology, protecting the environment, education, global agreements, etc. Red states could pursue individual freedoms with regard to education and policy, perhaps more religion, fossil fuels, etc. Both sides would be much happier apart as both could pursue the realization of their own ideas rather than fighting the other side.
So you're onboard with huge swaths of territory that are overwhelmingly becoming the fiefdoms of their urban overlords, with whom they bitterly disagree on just about everything politically? You believe that places where the rural population turns blue urban areas into unwilling fiefdoms is equally valid?
What's happening, simultaneously, is that CA's taxpayers are fleeing to other states while the poor are flocking to CA for the public assistance benefits. That's why SF has "poop maps" and there are so many homeless tent encampments in Los Angeles, etc.
Can’t we just split the country into blue states and red states? Trump has proven beyond a doubt that the red states and blue states can't work together, so why don't we stop pretending we can and just split the country?
It will be easier if the ones who said they would leave the Country IF Trump would win, will leave now!
U sound incredibly sheltered. Have you been to Brownsville Brooklyn lately? Gary Indiana? Detroit?
I've been to all those places. And while they have significant issues, none approach third world status. I grew up in a struggling midwestern city near Detroit.
