If you can look past the sitgma attached to the word 'socialism' I think we can agree that the country has many 'social programs'

When we pool our money (taxes) to create a program to help us all (military, fire, police, social security, etc.) then we should be open to other programs that help us all.

For example, one thing that escapes me why insulin is so expensive. (no, I am not diabetic). This is something people will die without. A good social program would be for our government oversee it sold at cost. Life or death should not be for profit.

I'm sure there are more and better ideas but we shouldn't dismiss social programs because we've been programmed to think its a bad word.

No, pay for your own stuff. Other people’s problems are not my problem.

Only if you live in an isolated forest with no connection to the outside world. If you dont, you're part of society and benefit from it and social programs and taxes are part of the price to pay for the civilization you live in.

Less taxes - not more. Less govt. - not more.

BTW - military, fire, police, SS are all screwed up - with abuses and mismanagement up the wazoo. Military is "missing" 17 Trillion dollars - some fire dept personnel retire with 200k pensions on the taxpayer dime. Many communities crushed under weight of "social programs" and govt depts. Just look at CA.

It is not that easy. Less not more.

I burn biodiesel i make in my diesel powered vehicles. So I don’t pay fuel tax. When I buy jet fuel for my plane, the taxes funds the FAA, not deadbeats. My tax credits zero out any tax liability I have so I declared to have no fed taxes taken out of my paycheck. I fund me and not thee. I pay my own way.

Is your priest aware of this attitude?

Taxes for the military are called for under the federal Constitution. Taxes for fire and police should be collected and distributed locally, not at the federal level if you live in an area with an incorporation document of some kind.

Helping the sick is not part of Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution. It covers the 18 things the feds are legally allowed to spend money on. Nothing more.

T-310 is the healthiest person in America. He will never get a long drawn out illness that will deplete his entire bank account leaving him bankrupt. I wish I was that perfect.

40 million people or more died under various forms of Socialism in the 20th century. More are dying now in Venezuela. It earned that stigma.

Only the most clueless of history would think it's a good idea to return to such nonsense.
