The Chinese bought Smithfield and some other pork producers. Last time I checked they owned a bunch.

Pork producing companies I get. Why they are buying American schools is a mystery to me but there are.

IIRC, gasoline went way up under W. We rented a suburban to drive to camp in Vermont. Gas was nearly 4.50 a gallon. But like gasoline does, it came back down.

Trump took away every penny and a good deal more given in the meager tax cut for middle class taxpayers by raising the price of gas with his sanctions on Venezuela and Iran. The sanctions re-empowered OPEC which had become weak and ineffective due to US oil on the global market and allowed OPEC to control supply and drive up prices. Despite his talk, Trump works for big oil (and Russia and Saudi Arabia) and is no friend of the working man and woman.
