Videos taken during the protest also showed masked Antifa protesters smashing the windows of a U.S. Marine Corps recruiting office and another demonstrator sucker-punching someone.
But Jay Kim, the executive director of the National Lawyers Guild local chapter, said he felt police were targeting “anti-fascist protesters.”
“It really seemed to us like the Berkeley police department was there to…target the anti-fascist protesters,” Kim said.
Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguín said the police “did a very good job” handling the rally. But he said he spoke to police about the posting of mugshots on social media.
Byron White, a spokesman for the Berkeley Police Department, defended the release of the mugshots.
“People are coming from out of town and bringing weapons and are committed to violence…We don’t want people to be able to do that with anonymity,” White said.
The Antifa crowd and their enablers don't like the photos being shown because their modus operandi is to be violent anonymously. They are nothing more than common thugs getting their kicks attacking people and damaging property. Of course they want to do it anonymously.

It is very different. Back then the protestors were fighting to give people civil rights. Today the Antifa crowd is fighting to take away the rights of anyone who thinks differently than them.

Exactly. Today's Antifa are just like the KKK of decades ago, using violence, destruction and intimidation to get their way, all while being cowards and hiding behind masks. Today prominent Democrats support Antifa. Come to think of it-they supported the KKK back then as well. (Sen. Byrd anyone?)
Veena Dubal, a law professor at the University of California, said she found it “disturbing” that the police department would post the mugshots and risk the possibility of putting the demonstrators in danger.
“To ensure the peaceful expression of free speech, the City of Berkeley will temporarily prohibit sticks, pipes, poles and anything else that can be used for a "riot" on Sunday August 5 at two City parks as well as select streets. ”

Berkeley Antifa: Smashing fascism and city vehicles but mostly city vehicles
That sounds pretty reasonable to me. In case you had any doubt who was doing the smashing, here’s a bunch of Antifa goons smashing city vehicle windows while yelling, “F**k the city of Berkeley!” The city should have no regrets about arresting these creeps.
